Under-representation of women in scientific publications

… a woman is 13% less likely than a man to be named in a scientific article and 58% in a patent, even though she has contributed to it.

Women both publish and patent less than men. Women are less productive because they work in less welcoming environments, have greater family responsibilities, and have different positions in the laboratory. Recent work suggests that women are not less productive, but that their work is undervalued.

This is what is discussed in the article « Women are Credited Less in Science than are Men ». The study presented covers more than 10,000 research teams over a 4-year period, and suggests that women are accorded less credit than are men : in other words, they are systematically less likely to be named as authors on papers and patents.
