The exploration of exoplanetary atmospheres has entered a transformative phase. Once limited to single, emblematic detections of elements, the field has now matured into the 3D characterisation of targets rather than isolated phenomena in their atmospheres. Among the most intriguing of these is the observation of atmospheric dynamics and the implications of material transport on our understanding or atmospheres. I will present recent advances, outline the challenges that remain as we approach the ELT era, and show how upcoming missions such as ARIEL and PLATO will bridge the gap between current capabilities and the next generation of atmospheric characterisation.
