Conference Magnetospheres of Outer Planets, Toulouse, 26-31 July 2026

The conference Magnetosphere of Outer Planets (MOP) brings together every two years international experts to present and discuss ongoing researches about the magnetospheres of planets in the outer solar system and beyond. MOP 2026 will be jointly organized by IRAP, ISAE-SUPAERO and ONERA and will be hosted at hotel Mercure Toulouse Centre Compans from July 26 until July 31, 2026. More than 180 researchers will participate.

The conference will focus on recent studies about the systems of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and their moons, relying on observations from space missions (Cassini, Juno, Galileo, Voyager 2, …), space observatories (James Webb, Hubble, Hisaki) as well as terrestrial observatories (VLT, Keck, Nançay), and aiming to preparing the ESA Juice and the NASA Europa Clipper missions currently cruising towards Jupiter. Future missions targeting the icy Saturnian moon Enceladus by ESA, and Uranus by NASA, will also be discussed. Pluridisciplinary by essence, this conference is at the intersection of several fields of research: plasma physics, planetary sciences, astrophysics, space instrumentation, and solar System exploration.
