Visit of chinese delegation to IRAP, Mars and beyond !

A Chinese delegation from the Chinese space agency CNSA and other laboratories, led by Jizhong LIU, chief engineer of the future Mars mission Tianwen-3, visited us on April 10. Among the members of this delegation, some well-known collaborators, in particular Rong SHU of the Shanghai Institute for Technical Physics, PI of MarsCoDE on Tianwen-1, and Qiugang ZONG, plasmician, director of the Macau planetology laboratory.

This visit allowed scientists and engineers from the PEPS group of IRAP and the SSPA of ISAE-SUPAERO to interact with our Chinese visitors and learn more about the mission scenarios and international collaborations envisaged by the CNSA for Tianwen-3 (Martian sample return) and Tianwen-4 (exploration of Jupiter’s icy moon Callisto). This visit was also an opportunity to present to them the instrumental know-how of IRAP and ISAE-SUPAERO for the exploration of Mars and the measurements of charged particles in planetary environments.

A very interesting visit for all the participants to these discussions, which have allowed us to get to know each other better and get closer about the future exploration of our closest neighbor as well as our more distant Solar System!
