I undertake research on the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) with particular emphasis on  data analysis and phenomenology. I have authored or co-authored more than 100 refereed publications and have professional expertise in space science dating back to the COBE-DMR project that unambiguously detected structure in the CMB for the first time in 1992. My current focus is in the areas of Galactic foreground emission and its removal from microwave observations, and the search for cosmological non-Gaussianity and deviations from isotropy. I am a member of the Planck collaboration and PI or Co-I of two research areas in the key science program. I am also involved within France and Europe to join the LiteBIRD satellite project to study the signature of inflationary gravitational waves (so-called B-modes) in the CMB.

I was a recipient of an Agence Nationale de Recherche Chaire d'excellence (ANR-08-CEXC-0002-01) between December 2008 and December 2012. This provided specific support on the project  Confronting the Copernican Principle and Cosmological Isotropy with CMB temperature and polarisation data.  The research program attempted to test the fundamental assumptions of cosmology - that of homogeneity and isotropy - or at least to place stringent limits on observed deviations from the so-called concordance cosmological model which has its theoretical basis firmly rooted in the inflationary paradigm. These propositions were tested using observations of the CMB. However, the microwave sky is manifestly  anisotropic, principally due to the presence of diffuse emission from our own Galaxy. Thus other questions had to be addressed in detail, related both to the nature of the Galactic foreground emission, and to the statistical properties of fluctuations in the CMB, in both temperature and polarisation.
